Benitoite was discovered in San Benito County, California in 1907. It was named after San Benito, and was later established as the state gem of California because it is found nowhere else in the world. This very rare gemstone is truly stunning, combining the beautiful blue color of Sapphire with the light dispersing qualities of Diamond.

Even though Benitoite is a relatively modern discovery some magical lore has already been attached to it.
