Goldstone is a manufactured silica (Quartz) glass with rich, deep color, that is full of tiny sparkling copper inclusions. The most common form of Goldstone has a golden brown color, but black, red, blue and green Goldstone are also available nowadays. According to legend a mediaeval Italian monk carrying a bowl of copper shavings through the monastery workshop stumbled and spilled the whole lot into a bubbling vat of molten glass. The other monks berated him for ruining the glass, but when it cooled they were surprised to find that it had a rich golden color and beautiful sparkle, and decided that the 'accident' must have been Divine intervention.
Even though it is an artificial 'gemstone' Goldstone is popular in spells and charms and has accumulated plenty of metaphysical lore over the years. Said to represent human creativity and ingenuity, working with this stone can help you to recognize and develop your special talents. It is an excellent stone for anyone who is determined to improve their lot in life through hard work and education. Goldstone is often used in rituals to gain wealth, power, honor and riches. It can bring you honor and public recognition or allow you to move into the limelight in your chosen field but be warned - this is not a stone for the shy and self-effacing! It is also said to be helpful for keeping your feet on the ground and not allowing yourself to become overwhelmed or bigheaded about your newfound fame.
